CIMCORP'S TRAVERSE UNIT FOR GLASS ROBOT READY FOR MASS PRODUCTION

Cimcorp’s research and development work for LCD manufacture has resulted in a modular traverse unit, which can be used for glass robots as well as other articulated arm robots.

In LCD manufacture more than half of all robots need a traverse unit. The traverse unit increases the working area of the robots and enables the same robot to serve several process machines.

Last year Cimcorp started a new research and development project. The aim was to develop equipment for the handling and moving of seventh-generation glass substrates in the LCD manufacturing process. The traverse unit and a glass substrate robot have been developed hand in hand.

Now Cimcorp’s traverse unit is ready for mass production. The prototype has been tested and accepted. The tests have proven that the traverse unit is rigid and vibration-free, and is particularly suitable for LCD production. The modular traverse unit can easily be adapted for stroke lengths of 0.3 m – 10 m.

This successful development project was completed quickly, thanks to Cimcorp’s vast experience as a manufacturer of linear robots.
